I met Tom and Nicola to photograph them for a You magazine feature. Their lives were turned upside down 17 years ago when Tom contracted sepsis and had to have all of his limbs amputated in order to survive. I arrived a little early, knocked on the door and I have to admit I was surprised that it was Tom who walked up and opened the door and showed me into the kitchen. There’s nothing better than having your expectations challenged. The article co-incided with the launch of the film ‘Starfish’ which tells their amazing and moving story. Sepsis symptoms. Hello and welcome to my May newsletter where we jump back to early last year. We start with the gorgeous Brooke Vincent, long time Coronation street actress, photographed in Manchester for S Magazine’s ‘In the closet’. We had a great team led by Tricia Bland, make up by Nealey Leah and I was assisted by Karolina. Brooke was great to work with and I really like the ‘white portraits’. Hello everyone, here is my June newsletter which starts with my images of Peter Jones being used in Vauxhall magazine – I love the way they’ve laid it out across the dps. Thanks to Chilli Media for syndicating my images.

My contribution was to photograph Craig Walton, the service manager at JCT600 in Leeds who is particularly good at his job. Fingers crossed next year they’ll send me to Italy! (more…)
Having turned her nursery into a mini studio, dragged in half a tree from the garden and sprinkled fairy dust everywhere I waited impatiently for my daughter to fall asleep in her cot. I very carefully lifted her out and put her into position on the floor, removed her sleeping bag to reveal an amazing fairy ra-ra skirt, climbed to the top of the ladders, only to discover she was looking at me with a bewildered expression which very quickly turned sour. After half an hour of settling her back to sleep I started the game all over again. Finding herself awake and on top of a Christmas tree for the second time, she was very unimpressed and screamed the place down. Two hours later I decided it was worth one more try and was rewarded with the above shot. No ra-ra skirt but you can’t have everything!
