Welcome to my December 2025 newsletter. Here’s a look back at some of my photography projects from this time last year, spanning editorial magazine commissions, commercial lifestyle photography, school photography and corporate headshots across the UK.

I spent a day with this lovely family to create images for MCS Certified, who regulate standards in the green, home energy industry. My brief was to capture natural images of the family, in their home, living their lives and to have subtle references to ‘energy’ in most of the set ups. Working with kids (and animals) can be tricky but this photoshoot went really smoothly for several reasons. The family were a real family and relatives of the client. The house and dog were really familiar to the child – so everyone was feeling very comfortable. The star of the show is such a chilled little guy who takes everything in his stride. Of course we all worked around him, giving him space and down time whenever he needed it – but he really is an amazing little person.

I visited Delamere Health, a purpose-built private addiction rehab clinic in Cheshire to photograph Kathryn for Good Housekeeping magazine. Katherine is a Recovery Mentor at the clinic and is doing such an amazing and positive job. The grounds were beautiful and the weather was so good that we headed out and tried to get three or four different options for the picture editor to choose from. It was lovely to spend time with Kathryn and hear about her work at the clinic.

Up to Bolton to visit Rivington and Blackrod High School to photograph the students for the school’s promotional photography. RBHS is an excellent school with highly motivated staff and students so it wasn’t hard to get people involved in the school photography. Jen put the schedule together and we spent half hour sessions in lots of different areas. The image with the fireball is always a tricky one to capture and requires a bit of patience and technical juggling, but they are always worth it for the ‘drama’. I have to say I think the teacher’s braces are the icing on the cake 🙂

Another shoot for the same school – this time covering Rivington and Blackrod’s sports awards. It was a lovely evening with a celebratory atmosphere and the students had a great time. Teenagers are so funny though – they were all relaxed and having fun until they had to receive their award and then they all did the eyes down, shy, embarrassed shuffle across the stage. Bless them…
I headed over to Leeds to spend a day with Test Meter who sell, hire and service specialist test equipment. I spent the majority of the day photographing the team’s headshots on a mid grey background. We scheduled a few hours with a break from the portrait photography to go and explore the company and photograph some of the test equipment being serviced and maintained.
Bye for now 🙂
CroBio are a really interesting innovative company that may well make a massive difference to the world. Their goal is to ‘create an environmentally sustainable solution to alleviate global agricultural drought and help reverse the effects of climate change, through durable carbon drawdown’. I met them at CroBio’s lab in Macclesfield...

I spent half a day with Joe and his team at Soteria Fire Protection in Huddersfield to create branding photography for their website and general promotion and marketing. Soteria provides expert fire safety solutions across the north. We started with headshots against a mid grey background, wearing branded t-shirts of all the staff. Then moved onto more editorial style portraits of Joe
I visited a lovely school in my home town of Huddersfield - Moor End Academy. The pupils were really easy to work with and glad to be involved. I worked with Susan, who organised the schedule and helped me on the day. We were looking to get lots of photography of the students working hard, interacting with each other and enjoying the school environment...
Harper Green School is part of Leverhulme Academy Trust and we worked together to create positive, happy and natural shots of the pupils engaged in lessons and interacting with each other. Occasionally adding in a posed portrait that will work really well alongside a quote or a case study in the prospectus.
