Brave Branding Sessions

Sometimes you just need to be brave to showcase you and your business!  If you are a sole trader, a small business or a start up, these packages might be just what you need to get your branding off the ground. Good images are so important to promote your business.

In this increasingly visual world, potential clients view your website and social media and make split second decisions based on what they see.  Good imagery can promote you much quicker and much more effectively than lengthy written explanations.

Often with small businesses – you are your brand. You need to create images that tell your story, images where your personality shines through.

As a photographer and owner of a small business, I know full well how uncomfortable it can be to realise you have to in essence, sell yourself to promote your business. I also know how nerve wracking a photoshoot can be.  I’ve been photographing people for 20 years and I can count on one hand the people who were not nervous about a professional photoshoot.  But I can also tell you that virtually everyone I photograph gets to the end of a shoot and will tell me that it was actually quite fun and wasn’t as bad as they thought it was going to be!

I’m the type of photographer that will look after you. I will give you lots of direction – how to stand, what to do with your hands and your expressions. I will ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible during the shoot.  You may not believe it now – but we will most likely enjoy it and have fun!

Brave Branding Days

Coming soon!

A different approach and a chance to build your brand and your confidence whilst in the company of supportive like-minded people. I’m planning to introduce a branding day where I will hire a beautiful modern location that has lots of scope to create lovely fresh images and I will employ a hair and make up artist for the full day. There will be up to five places available.  You will each get one hour with the make up artist and 1 hour and 30 mins being photographed by me (split into two sessions so you can chill out in-between). Your timings will be scheduled but I encourage you to come for the full day, relax and enjoy the informal networking and a tasty lunch.

“Claire Wood has been a regular contributor to Fabulous Magazine since its launch. Claire’s work is beautifully composed and she always produces characterful and sympathetic portraits which are ideal for our magazine. I would have no hesitation in commissioning her however difficult and demanding the assignment”.

Alan Gittos, Picture Director, Fabulous Magazine

Arrow Border

“Claire was a consummate professional when taking headshots of various members of the GW Legal team. As this is something we don’t do regularly, there was some trepidation, but Claire put us at ease within moments. The quality of the photos are impeccable and has really added value to our online offering. We can’t fault Claire and her professionalism and will use her again for any future projects”.

Alexander Loveless, Marketing Manager – GW Legal

Arrow Border

“First of all, I’ve got to say the quality of Claire’s work is brilliant. We commission her for every edition of Business Agenda, sometimes 2 or 3 shoots an issue, and she is our first port of call for business portraits. She follows a brief to the tee, and always gets the best out of her subjects whether she has them for an hour or just 10 mins. Her use of light and colour and her choice of composition are consistently excellent.”

Andrew Cowan, Group Art Director – John Brown Media

Arrow Border

“I always know that whenever I commission Claire the shoot is in safe hands.  She gives 100% and I always get top quality images, with lots of variety and different crops and poses.   I know I’ll get the pictures I want when Claire shoots for me.  And I am never disappointed!”

Jo Lockwood, Picture Editor – Prima

Arrow Border

“Claire is an absolute professional. I have worked with Claire for a number of years on various projects. She delivers on the brief, every time…with fantastic results. Whether you are looking for traditional commercial portraits, or something a little different, I would have no hesitation in recommending Claire.”

Jonathan Cliff, Marketing Manager – HB Projects

Arrow Border

“Claire’s great to work with, the kind of photographer you can rely on and trust. Always cheery and helpful, goes the extra mile and is willing to push the boundaries to get great shots every time.”

Shaun Scott Baker, Deputy Picture editor, Woman magazine

Arrow Border

“As the owner of a creative design agency, I know how important it is to work with photographers who know what they are doing but also add that extra something. Claire is someone who adds that extra something. Having worked with her on and off over the past 15 years, I have no hesitation in recommending her.”

Paul Grogan, Think Design Manchester

Arrow Border

“I’ve been working with Claire for a few years now and each and every time we get Claire in she does her best to get exactly what we are looking for. Always prompt, professional and a pleasure to work with. Shots are sent over so quickly after the shoot for proofing so gives us the flexibility to use the shots straight away.”

Lynsey Thompson, Events and Campaign Co-ordinator, Datel

Arrow Border

“Claire has been working with You Magazine for many years now and she is a delight to work with. Claire understands our audience and our style. She is always a pleasure to deal with!”

Luisa Avietti, Deputy Picture Editor – You Magazine

Arrow Border

“I’ve used Claire twice now and recommended her to other businesses needing to take fantastic portrait photos. She is truly excellent. On our last shoot, poor Claire was up against a tight deadline but she still managed to produce a range of brilliant photos!”

Liz Ward – Virtuoso Legal – The Intellectual Property Specialists

Arrow Border

“I’ve been commissioning Claire for the last ten years and she is always a pleasure to deal with. She listens to what you want, asks the right questions, and just gets on with it without a fuss. It really is a pleasure to work with her and I always know she is going to send me a really pretty shoot with loads of options to choose from.”

Kelly Preedy, Picture Editor, Marie Claire UK

Arrow Border

“Claire Wood has been a great contact to have. We often have interview and people pieces that need photographing across the UK, and Claire has been our go-to for northern shoots. She is always a pleasure to work with and produces a fantastic quality of photos.”

Kayli Olson, LPM magazine, Burlington Media Group

How does it work?

Pre shoot consultation:

We have a good chat on the phone to discover what sort of images will work best for you.  I find out about you and your business, your unique selling points and your customer base and expectations.  This is an important part of the planning, as I really want to create images that reflect you and your business in the way you want to be seen and that inspires your customers.

What to wear:

This is so important.  Choosing colours is especially important. Outfit changes are a bonus because you can create several different looks and get more longevity out of the photoshoot.  I can give you lots of advice on what to wear.

Where to do the shoot:

We can do the photoshoot at your home or at your business premises. At a pretty cafe or stylised bar or restaurant.  We can photograph you outside in an urban or rural setting.  We will make these choices with a view to how you want to be seen.  If we hire a location there may be an extra cost involved.

Hair and make up?

I can arrange for a professional make up artist to do your hair and make up prior to the shoot to give you an extra confidence boost.

During the shoot:

I will look after you and I will give you lots of direction to make sure you look good and feel comfortable.  We will work to get as many different shots as possible to maximise the usage you get out of the photoshoot.

After the shoot:

I will edit the shoot and balance the images.  Then I will send you all the images that work well via Wetransfer.  They will also be indexed onto a contact sheet for easy viewing.  These images are yours to use for your self promotion.  You can pick a number of images to be retouched if you would like.  This is light retouching – blemishes, stray hairs, dark shadows under the eyes… so you look like your best self. This is not body altering effects to change your shape etc. I encourage women (and men) to love the way they are.
