July 12 News

Hello and welcome to my July ’12 news where we will hop back to see what was happening in January. In our house, Coronation Street is the one programme we both adore, so when Fabulous magazine commissioned me to photograph Jodie Pregner in the Rovers Return, I jumped at the chance.  Jodie starred in the ‘Street of Dreams’ musical, which seems to have hit rocky ground.  Such a shame as Jodie was so excited about it.

From the surreal to the scary.  I photographed a brave lady, whose baby daughter kept seeing a ghost she called ‘wolf man’.  After her daughter was seemingly lifted out of her cot by ‘wolf man’ Natasha quickly got him exorcised by the local priest.  All is well now…

Onto a very inspiring lady now for Prima magazine – Shirley Ellis worked in her local library for 44 years and was awarded an MBE for her services.  When the council threatened closure she headed a campaign to save the library which is now staffed by volunteers.

A lovely shoot for Woman magazine about Sue who has had a face lift.  I’m not usually a fan of the face lift look, but I thought Sue looked fantastic and very natural.  I spent the next few days pulling up my forehead and ears and making faces in the mirror.

Another fab shoot for Woman with Claire, who has beaten depression.  She talked openly about the experience making her into a better person.

I love these ‘In the Closet’ shoots for S magazine.  This time we featured Chelsee Healey who was fresh out of Strictly Come Dancing.  Chelsee was a joy to photograph and had some wonderful outfits to choose from.

I spent a day with a lovely family to create images for MCS Certified, my brief was to capture natural images of the family, in their home, living their lives and to have subtle references to ‘energy’. The star of the show - is such a chilled little guy who takes everything in his stride. We all worked around him, giving him space and down time whenever he needed it - he really is an amazing little person.

I spent half a day with Joe and his team at Soteria Fire Protection in Huddersfield to create branding photography for their website and general promotion and marketing. Soteria provides expert fire safety solutions across the north. We started with headshots against a mid grey background, wearing branded t-shirts of all the staff. Then moved onto more editorial style portraits of Joe

I visited a lovely school in my home town of Huddersfield - Moor End Academy. The pupils were really easy to work with and glad to be involved. I worked with Susan, who organised the schedule and helped me on the day. We were looking to get lots of photography of the students working hard, interacting with each other and enjoying the school environment...
