November '24 News

We start my November ’24 news with my second trip abroad for a commercial photoshoot. This time to Munich to photograph the people at Auto Scout24. Auto Scout 24 are the largest pan-European online car market and SMRS were helping them to create a new approach and photography and videography content for their recruitment purposes. Being my second time flying to Germany and renting equipment, it seemed more straight forward and less stressful than last time and I enjoyed it much more. We were all made very welcome and there was a very international feel to the company with interesting people from all over the world. I shot both office lifestyle photography and portraits (next newsletter). I got to see a little bit of beautiful Munich from the taxi journeys to and from the airport. See more here from this office lifestyle photography shoot.

This was a fun editorial photoshoot for Good Housekeeping magazine with Tracey and her daughter Jessica who work together on their dairy farm in Derbyshire. The article is about Mothers and daughters that work together and I was asked to get lots of loving happy images of them together. The main shot was to be a nice wide image with one or two of their cows with a big background. This was actually shot in November and I remember it was absolutely freezing, but, being very grateful for the beautiful blue sky and sunshine. Tracey and Jessica heroically abandoned their coats and jumpers to help it look like Spring. Thanks to Rebecca for hair and makeup.

Headshots for an amazing energy company called Box Power based in Bolton. Orange is their main company colour and they were brave enough to use it for the background of their portraits. It worked really well and I think it’s very eye catching. Box Power are very unique – the UK’s only philanthropic energy consultancy. All the profits the company makes go back into the community as charitable donations. Watch this video at Box Power.

Jo Grobbelaar asked if it was possible to share a branding photoshoot with her colleague Doctor Sarah. Of course – it’s a really good idea and a great way to save costs. The photoshoot took place at The Bonded Warehouse in Manchester – a beautifully designed flexible workspace. Both women brought changes of clothes with them so that we could get different looks to get the most out of the photoshoot. In half a days photoshoot we managed to get lots of options photographing both Sarah and Jo in each set up. Sharing a shoot with someone you know also makes it more fun and relaxed and less daunting.
