Hello and welcome to my March ’25 news. I hope everyone is doing OK and starting to feel the Spring vibes.

We start with a trip to Edinburgh to photograph students at Preston Lodge High School to capture promotional photography for my client, We Are Futures. NatWest run their varied CareerSense workshops across lots of different educational settings for 13 to 24 year olds. The workshops help students to develop core skills for the future workplace. My job was to capture the energy and interaction between the NatWest Bank Ambassadors and students and the moments of contemplation, concentration and understanding.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m trying to keep this a secret, but I do occasionally do event photography 🙂 Here is an example from an event photography photoshoot I did for Mills and Reeves. I was covering a function at the beautiful Tiled Hall Cafe in Leeds Art Gallery. When I’m doing this sort of photography I feel like I’m on the hunt for smiles and energy. Luckily there were plenty of opportunities at this do. Here is a tip. If you want the photographer to leave you alone – stop laughing and look miserable – they will soon wander on by!

Here are some more examples from my photoshoot at Bury College for GMIoT. My brief was to photograph the students and the teacher using the state of the art equipment to illustrate the benefits to learning. The medical simulation mannequins are amazing, if not a little bit freaky – they do all sorts of unexpected things! I wasn’t overly keen to be in the room alone with them….
Lastly a re-visit to my lovely client iseepr in Leeds. It was for a session of reportage style photography, a big group shot and a few quick headshots.
They are such a nice company, full of positive friendly people who always give me a warm welcome.
Bye for now.
Claire
CroBio are a really interesting innovative company that may well make a massive difference to the world. Their goal is to ‘create an environmentally sustainable solution to alleviate global agricultural drought and help reverse the effects of climate change, through durable carbon drawdown’. I met them at CroBio’s lab in Macclesfield...
I spent a day with a lovely family to create images for MCS Certified, my brief was to capture natural images of the family, in their home, living their lives and to have subtle references to ‘energy’. The star of the show - is such a chilled little guy who takes everything in his stride. We all worked around him, giving him space and down time whenever he needed it - he really is an amazing little person.
I spent half a day with Joe and his team at Soteria Fire Protection in Huddersfield to create branding photography for their website and general promotion and marketing. Soteria provides expert fire safety solutions across the north. We started with headshots against a mid grey background, wearing branded t-shirts of all the staff. Then moved onto more editorial style portraits of Joe
I visited a lovely school in my home town of Huddersfield - Moor End Academy. The pupils were really easy to work with and glad to be involved. I worked with Susan, who organised the schedule and helped me on the day. We were looking to get lots of photography of the students working hard, interacting with each other and enjoying the school environment...
Harper Green School is part of Leverhulme Academy Trust and we worked together to create positive, happy and natural shots of the pupils engaged in lessons and interacting with each other. Occasionally adding in a posed portrait that will work really well alongside a quote or a case study in the prospectus.
