All change

As autumn rolls around again, I am back to full-time availability and looking forward to getting stuck into some new challenges. I love this time of year, especially seeing the leaves change and also knowing I’ll be able to snuggle back into my woolly jumpers soon. In case it’s chilly already I thought these shots from a Weight Watchers shoot with Aktar Islam might warm you up, to start my September 14 news. Gorgeous, healthy, colourful comfort food from his restaurant ‘Fiesta del Asado’ in Edgbaston.

After expressing an early interest in photography my mother (a policeman’s daughter) tried to persuade me to become a police photographer. (Strange I know, but it was the only proper job she could think of). Having the sort of stomach that turns at the mere thought of anything gruesome, I wasn’t having any of it!  So, when Fabulous magazine asked me to photograph Jill, a crime scene investigator for Manchester police, I was intrigued to find out how she copes with and enjoys her job.

I found a lovely park right next to the sea, for this S Magazine shoot.  The crashing of the waves and the cries of the seagulls gave me that lovely holiday feeling and I felt instantly relaxed.Victoria has brittle asthma and was told she would never be able to have children. But after trialling a new drug she felt well enough to get pregnant and now has her adored miracle child Joshua.

Here are a few outtakes from a shoot with Liz Jones entitled ‘cat nav’ for Femail.  Sat navs were attached to Liz’s cats and dogs for a few days to see what they got up to. My mission was to get a group shot of Liz with her 4 cats and one dog. However one cat was feral and couldn’t even be found. Then, another was distinctly unsociable, cat no.3 got very bored, cat no.4 didn’t like the dog and the dog didn’t really like any of them!

This couple got back together the day their decree absolutely dropped through the door! A lovely, heartwarming story for Prima magazine.

Last October found me loitering in parks, looking rather suspicious with my camera on a tripod pointing at nothing, whilst I waited for my next person to arrive for their headshot. Fortunately it wasn’t long, as there were plenty of people to photograph for Gillespies - (landscape architects, master planners, and urban designers).

This was a really fun shoot with Marie Thom for Good Housekeeping magazine entitled ‘In my experience - Midlife dramas in pyjamas’. Marie made myself and make up artist Charlotte really welcome. I set up a little ‘photo booth’ in her front room and started unpacking all of the fab props sent by the magazine.

Off to Peterborough, to visit the home of the famous Sergi for a Compare the Market photoshoot with SMRS. The main part of the shoot involved setting up a studio with a white background and photographing our volunteers separately and then interacting with each other to be used in a recruitment campaign.

I really enjoyed photographing Christine and her garden for WI Life magazine. She’s a lovely lady who clearly loves her gardening. There were so many fun things to discover like the ‘green lady’ and the signs made out of broken tiles, the birdhouses and the vegetable patch
